Plans Without An Engine Must Be Pushed and Will Still Fail

We all have plans for today, for tomorrow and the future.  If you have children, you are probably planning for their future. It is okay to plan; but without God, will they be successful? Without an engine, plans will take alot of effort and still fail.

Sure, I had plans for my future, my husband and I both. But, along the way, they got seriously messed up!

You’ve heard this question before, I’m sure: What comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Well, what came first, the messed up plans or we got messed up? It’s natural to blame other things for the failure of something, but let’s be honest … when something goes good, we can tend to take the credit.  This is more prevalent when our relationship with God is slacking. Right?

Is It Possible To Be Lazy?

I’m reading these scriptures tonight, and I admit that I am slacking. I am being lazy in my relationship with God. Do you have those times when you’re on autopilot, coasting along in life, and there’s no lift? I’ve been making plans without consulting God, and He’s been waiting, He has something important to say to me. This is what I need to focus on:

“I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me, I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.” Psalm 16:7-8

I caught myself the other day praying and asking God to help me do something, I had a plan.  And, then I stopped and asked myself this question: Have I asked God if He wanted me to do this something, or have I assumed that since I want to do it, it already has His blessing?

Is that something you’ve done? It is human nature, but we can’t blame it on that.  It is a choice, free choice, to allow our thinking to be drawn towards a human perspective, bypassing God. That’s laziness, that’s assumption.

Thinking About God … constantly

By constantly thinking about the Lord and His way of living, we will gain insights that will help us make right decisions and live the way God designs.

In the above scripture, David is saying that he “will not be shaken.” Another truth: God does not give a free pass to believers from experiencing the day-to-day circumstances of life.

Are you in a lull? Have you been guilty of being lazy in your relationship with God? God is still there, if you have asked Jesus in your heart, we just tend to put some distance … we walk on.

Will your plans succeed without God?

They may succeed on the surface, but not from a lasting and spiritual aspect. And, that can be a problem, because we may think that everything is going well when it really isn’t.  And, then one day, umph! Slow moving, dying or crash and burn!

Don't let your life's plans be so real that you awaken too late and miss the reality of God's truth. Click To Tweet

It is never good to eliminate God’s plans from our lives, we will wake up one day in desperation.  Instead, it is better to stay so connected and close to God that we know His plans, we hear His voice, we obey His instructions because we love Him.

Why? Because God first loved us! And, He wants to bless us every day. However, you and I will miss that if we are focused on the wrong things. We will miss that if we are focused on putting an engine on our plans.

God Has So Many Blessings for Us

Don’t you think God has a much more powerful engine to bring plans alive? But, because He created us, and He knows us more than we know ourselves or anyone else knows us, He also knows our future and He knows what it will take to bring His plans alive in our lives.

“You will keep guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart, He is mine forever.” Psalm 73:24-26

Today, I don’t want to be lazy anymore, I want God’s love evident in my life more than anything! Even though He is still right beside me, I will pursue God no matter what. I don’t want to push the engine anymore.  I want God to be the power in the plans for our lives!

Are you with me in this? Let’s lay off the shackles of self and find out from God what His perfect plans are for each of our lives. I promise you victory! You are God’s treasure!

I leave you with these to ponder:

  • Are you allowing things to interfere between you and God, with your time with God?
  • What are your struggles on a day-to-day basis as you take care of your families and home?
  • Are you pushing your plans and dreams?
  • Are you ready for God’s plans?
  • Are you ready for God’s blessings?
