When I think back to the public school days of our now-grown children, my biggest regret is not homeschooling them. Why? Because there were times they struggled with their classes, one of them much more than the other.  Also, I feel that I could have provided them with a much better education.

Why do I say that? Because, my heart breaks for all of these children and teenagers who are taught from a mentality of:

  • Only give them so much time
  • Plan every minute
  • Don’t allow them to have any time where there is nothing to do or they will misbehave

If your child is or was in a public school system, I can assure you that this will most probably be the mentality. It’s not the fault of the teachers, it’s the requirements that are put into effect by state educators to try and get our schools to produce more advanced students.

The fact is, children learn at different paces and every child has their strengths.  They can be given a lesson plan that is detailed down to “10-10:30 Math pages 75-78” and only 1/3 of the students will be able to finish on time. Most of the remaining 2/3rds will try to complete the assignment in class, but they will not have enough time. Why? Because some are not given the individual time to really learn the concepts.  Some students will guess … this really bothers me!

Teachers in public school systems are overloaded with not much thanks.  They not only have to teach, but they also have to pay psychologist in order to figure out how to manage the classroom while teaching.  In order to teach, you have to love it and you have to love kids.  I’ve met many great teachers who want only the best for each student and they do their best, but there just isn’t enough time in the day to handle individual learning.  Nor is there enough funding for schools to be able to add additional teachers and aides.

Homeschooling allows every student to learn at their own pace. It also allows the parent to be able to give that individual time to explain concepts. And, yes, you as the homeschooling parent will have answer and help guides to explain the homeschooling work.

Today there are so many great resources for homeschooling, especially this one on reading, spelling, remembering, dyslexia and more from All About Learning.  I belong to a Mommy group on Facebook and I see alot of concerns by parents who want to homeschool their child but are afraid of failure. They are also afraid that they will be overwhelmed and won’t be able to explain the work.

That is why I love this little book You Can Do It Too! 25 Homeschool Families Share Their Success Stories . There are alot of success stories out there, not just in this book.

This book is for you if:

  • You’re overwhelmed about homeschooling options
  • You are curious what homeschooling looks like day after day
  • You’re not sure if you have the education or patience to homeschool or even if you’re not sure you could
  • You’re not sure what to teach
  • You’ve started and are not sure if you’re being effective
  • You need ideas, inspiration and motivation to keep going

The greatest thing about homeschooling is that you can make sure it is Bible-based! You can make sure that your child is not learning world-view belief systems, while at the same time they are scoring very high on ACT’s and are able to gain scholarships into college.

Not only that, you can spend that individual time with your child.  Only you know your child the best and I know you want the best for each of them. What a legacy you can give them for their future!

So, what are you waiting for! Start your homeschooling success off right by reading what these 25 families have done to be successful in homeschooling their children from Pre-K all the way to 12th grade. Read their stories about their concerns, experiences, joys and why they keep homeschooling their children.

You Make Me Brave

So many people today feel that God has abandoned them, has looked away and has no care for what is going on in the world today.  There is deep suffering, emotional, physical, spiritual.  Are you weak right now? Do you wonder if God is against you … or is He for you? Are you brave?

you make me brave

This song really speaks to me as it reminds me of how I once believe and how God washed His love over me … again and again until I was fully convinced of it.  Are you convinced?

You Make Me Brave by Amanda Cook

I stand before You now
The greatness of your renown
I have heard of the majesty and wonder of You
King of Heaven, in humility, I bow

As Your love, in wave after wave
Crashes over me, crashes over me
For You are for us
You are not against us
Champion of Heaven
You made a way for all to enter in

I have heard You calling my name
I have heard the song of love that You sing
So I will let You draw me out beyond the shore
Into Your grace
Your grace

You make me brave
You make me brave
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves
You make me brave
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the love that made a way

You make me brave
You make me brave
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves
You make me brave
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the promises you made
You make me brave
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the love that made a way

A New Beginning!

Are you ready to be brave? Are you ready to say Yes to God washing His love over you? God is for you! He is your champion!

Will you keep sinking and wondering where God is? Instead of looking at your surroundings, instead of looking at all that is going wrong in your life … look up to the Savior of your heart! Look up to God! Seek Him, open your heart to Him and let Him wash His love over you!

Why Women Must Choose Godly Women As Friends

godly women friends

Is this really relevant today? Why should we only be friends with women?

Why Women Must Choose Godly Women As Friends

I’m going to be open and transparent here with y’all about this, especially since I have personal experience with it.  There’s also the aspect of dealing with other women who are experiencing this in their lives and it is creating problems.

So, one of the questions that I have been asked on a Facebook group (women only!) that I manage is this question: Can men or women have friends of the opposite sex and spend time with them as friends? I’ll talk specifically about this in a bit, hang tight.

God created men and women with different sets of emotions, not to mention physically different.  While men tend to look at things an analyze from a logical standpoint, women tend to look at things from an emotional standpoint.

Ok, now you can close your mouth!! I will add that those roles can be reversed.  For example, I look at things from an analytical standpoint and try to keep my emotions in check … however, there are times when I can’t.  Men can also look at things from an emotional standpoint.

Now that we have that out of the way … whew! … let’s move on to why Women Must Choose Godly Women as Friends.

Biblically Speaking

While God’s Word does not specifically warn against being friends with the opposite sex, there are scriptures that warn us against putting ourselves in situations where there is temptation and how to honor God.

2 Timothy 2:22a “Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust.”

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 “Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for Gd bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

2 Timothy 2:22b “Follow anything that makes you want to do right. Pursue and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.”

There is one scripture that speaks alot to me on the relationship of a man and woman in marriage and that is Ephesians 5:31-33 “As the Scriptures say, ‘A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself and the wife mus respect her husband.”

Sanctity of Marriage

Your marriage relationship, this unity, merges both the man and the woman in such a way that nothing can affect one without affecting the other. This unity means caring for your spouse as you care for yourself, helping each other become all he or she can be by depending upon Christ and His love.

If a married woman chooses to be friends with a man and starts spending time with him, satan will always use that opportunity to place doubt in the woman’s mind about her husband and their marriage.  This, in turn, will start tearing the marriage apart and the man you are friends with may then have the opportunity to enter a door that should not have been opened.

Don’t even go there! A long time ago, I thought it was okay to have male friends while I was married. In my mind I didn’t think there would be any harm and nobody could tell me what I could and could not do.  How wrong I was! How it lured me into becoming critical of my own husband!

Here is Brittany’s post of 6 Reasons You Need Godly Friends so you can read more of why Godly friends are important.

I encourage you, precious women, to take on the mind and heart of Christ. While you may think you are strong and can withstand the temptations, I promise you, it is an open door to satan you do not want.

Think of it this way … are you honoring God? Are you honoring your husband?

8 Ways That Show God Implemented Goals In The Bible To Bless You

god is big

Have you ever wondered about that or thought about it? Does the Bible really show that God has goals and plans?

I know, you’re thinking, “What is she talking about?”

God has done BIG things in history and is still doing BIG things! And, those BIG things are what He wants us to understand, as well as the fact that they can only be achieved by taking action in small bite-sized ways.

However, we limit God by our limited belief.  We have been “taught” to only pray for what we can understand or wrap our minds around.  We have not been taught to pray BIG!

8 Ways That God Started With Goals

  • “In the beginning” is a clear indication that God had big plans for the future. There was nothing and He created something for a bigger goal. (Genesis 1:1)
    • It wasn’t about the process of creation, but the origin of it.
    • He didn’t have to create anything … He chose to
  • God created everything in an orderly fashion (Genesis 1:1-31)
    • He didn’t create plants before light, for example
  • Out of everything He created, He created us humans as the only ones who can communicate with Him (Psalm 34:17)
  • God created us to reflect His image (Genesis 1:27-28)
    • When we criticize others or put them down, we are at the same time putting down God (Matthew 7:1-2, Romans 2:21-22 & 2 Samuel 12:5-6)
  • God created all life to pro-create or to continue life
    • Mankind cannot create something out of nothing
  • God provided a way, from the beginning, for us to be attached to the vine, to not only be the children of God but the adopted children of God (John 15:1-17)
    • God does not make mistakes. However, because He created us to choose, He also knew that we would need redemption in our lives … a path to righteousness and fellowship with Him, now and eternally
  • He provided a “road map” detailing the goals for our lives that He has and how much He loves us … the Bible
  • God provided redemption, He provided holiness and righteousness for us! (John 3:16)

How Do We Believe and Pray BIG?

With all of these, can you not see how God wants us to pray way beyond our limited understanding? He wants us to believe BIG, He wants us to ask for the BIG things! However, God is also very interested in the little things. In fact, He works most of the time in small ways that we don’t even notice.

Don’t just ask God to change your husband’s heart … ask God and praise Him for guiding your husband to be a Godly man even though that is completely impossible to imagine. That also means that you, as his wife, have a responsibility to connect with God and allow Him to change your heart.

Don’t just ask God to give you more money, ask God to help you learn how to take care of the money, talents, and everything the way He wants you to do it.  It is all His, everything is!

There are so many ways in which we are self-limiting God and what He wants to do in our lives.

Start with God’s Goals For Your Life

It’s time, way past time, to see that God’s goals are good for us.  That means, we must also have goals that are God-inspired and what God wants for us.

First, take some time to pray and ask God for guidance. Then, list out in a notebook 10 BIG goals that are impossible to achieve in your life.  Then, take the time to break each of those goals down into smaller goals of: yearly, monthly, weekly, daily to get there.

Don’t try to get caught in the time-stealing mentality of multi-tasking. Take one goal and start working on it, praying over the process and actionable steps.  Do things God’s way and timing and you’ll see everything take place beyond your wildest imagination.

God is a great BIG God and He is not limited by how we see Him, but we are limited in how we see Him.  It’s time to break free of that trap and expand!

I would love to hear your goals, just leave a comment.

Forever He Is Glorified

Have you ever thought about what forever would be like? Think about it for a minute … can you even imagine it?

We hear these words, we see them in the Bible at times, but do we really understand what forever is? I don’t think we do, because we do not have a reference point.

God certainly thought about it. He thought about it before He even created anything, even the angels.
This scripture says it very well in Ecclesiastes 3:11 –

“He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

forever he is glorified

God has set eternity in our hearts but we still can’t understand what that is.  Spending eternity with God is a concept we are unable to grasp.  Why? Because we are more in tune with time and place, that is our human nature.

When I think about what forever means, eternity, I can imagine lush fields and meadows, the most beautiful colors of everything … and peace … and communion and closeness with our Savior Jesus, with God our Holy Father and with the gentle dove of Holy Spirit.  But, I can’t imagine … time. I can’t imagine what forever would be like. Can you?

What was the cost of God’s forever? Are we worth it? This song really touched my heart when I heard it and I encourage you to not only read the lyrics, but I encourage you to click on the song title below and listen:

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him

One final breath he gave
As heaven looked away
The son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting?
Our resurrected King
Has rendered you defeated

Forever He is glorified
Forever He is lifted high
Forever He is risen
He is alive, He is alive!

We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
We sing hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

God’s Forever

God’s perfect love could not be overcome … Forever He is glorified … Forever He is lifted high … Forever He is risen!

Jesus said while on the cross … ‘why have you forsaken me!’ (Mark 15:34) Why did He say that? Being forsaken is being ignored, abandoned, rejected, despised.  You must remember that even though God came down in flesh as Jesus, He had no power of His own as Jesus.  Therefore, He suffered as a human, but so much more than we can even imagine.  He took the sins of all people, past, present and future. Jesus was the only and perfect sacrifice, and the cost of being separated for even a short time was almost unbearable for Jesus! But, He did it out of love!

There is another forever … a dark and soul-torturing one … forever apart from God! We can’t imagine the extreme emptiness of being apart from God.  Right now, in this day and age, many people are choosing to be apart from God. God’s Spirit is calling to them in the darkness, but they are not hearing, they are not heeding.  It seems they don’t need Him or see their need of Him. But, one day … one day it will be too late. That too late is death.

What is your forever? Do these lyrics by Kari Jobe speak to you?  They sure did for me! And, they caused me to think more deeply about what it cost Jesus to give us this forever with God, should we choose.

Have you chosen your forever? It’s not a matter of the mind and deciding, it is a matter of the heart that has been drawn by God’s Spirit, you hearing and obeying, realizing your need of Jesus all of your life and desiring to please Him, giving Him access to your heart, mind and entire life.

Where is your forever going to be?
